Free gas servicing and repairs are being offered to South Yorkshire residents in a bid to keep people safe this winter.
Sheffield and Rotherham Stay Put is available to homeowners aged over 60 in Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley who receive benefits or have a state pension as their only income.
People aged under 60 but with disabilities are also eligible for the scheme, which is funded by Gas Safe and Foundations Independent Living Trust.
Yorkshire Housing’s head of home improvement agencies Chris Wade said: “This scheme will help eliminate the risk of older or vulnerable people using unsafe gas appliances because they can’t afford to get them tested or repaired.”
Work covered by the scheme includes gas servicing and safety checks, gas boiler, cooker, water heater or fire repairs, gas pipework and isolation tap fitting.
Foundations Independent Living Chair, Baroness Kay Andrews, said: “This funding will provide much needed support to many vulnerable and older people across the UK.
“I am delighted we are working to provide essential support to keep people safe and warm in their homes.”
