Commuters are being given free tickets as part of a campaign for people to ditch their cars and board the bus to cut congestion in Sheffield.

An initiative called ‘Bus, Your Second Car’ has been launched by Sheffield Bus Partnership to drive up passenger numbers, when transport officials will handing out free all-day tickets at various locations so people can ‘test ride’ buses instead of cars.

Commuters can pick up tickets from Chesterfield Road, Heeley, on Monday, October 14, from 10am and 6pm, Woodseats Shopping Centre on Tuesday, October 15, 9am to 5pm, and Ecclesall Road on Wednesday, October 16, from 7am to 3pm.

Sheffield Bus Partnership said passenger numbers have risen 5.8 per cent in a year.
