Rail cuts protesters and union members will hold a ‘victory demonstration’ on Monday after charges were dropped against two ‘Freedom Riders’.
George Arthur and Tony Nuttall, aged 64 and 65, had been due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates Court on charges of fare evasion and obstructing police.
They had been part of protests against cuts to travel passes for OAPs at Sheffield Railway Station in June.
But the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the charges last week, just days before their trial was set to start on Monday.
The Barnsley Retirees Action Group is now set to hold a celebration outside the Magistrates Court in Castle Street from 9am on Monday.
The group will be joined by members of the Unite union.
