A GAS mains fitter from Barnsley has died after he hit his head on the ground when he was clipped by a passing cyclist on a road where he was working.
Nevil Shaw, aged 53, of Saville Road, Gilroyd, was working with his brother on Portobello Road, Wakefield, when the collision occurred last Friday, August 3.
He died in Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield, two days later. A brain scan had revealed ‘catastrophic injuries’.
The funeral is to be held at Ardsley Crematorium on Friday, August 17, at 11am.
Donations made in Mr Shaw’s memory will go towards the critical care unit at the hospital, where he was treated.
An inquest into the death has been opened and adjourned pending further inquiries.
