The focalpoint for Sheffield Pride - the celebration of the city’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transexual community - is being switched from Endcliffe Park to the city centre.
A free event will start in Barkers Pool at noon on Saturday, July 6, to be followed at 3.45pm by a parade along Division Street to the main centre of activities, Devonshire Green.
The green will be a base for street entertainers, a funfair, food and drink and the new ‘Pride Stage’. There will be an ‘after party’ at the O2 Academy in Arundel Gate.
Last year the parade was held along Ecclesall Road to the main focus of attention, Endcliffe Park.
Sheffield Pride chair Adam Hood said: “The changes we’ve made this year have been huge, but the effort has been worth it.”
A website and tickets sales are being launched today (Thursday).
