A SHEFFIELD couple has been given the go-ahead to convert their home into a residential centre for people with weight-loss problems.
Mark and Ann Bolger are aiming to see the first customers arrive at the The Towers, a grade II-listed ‘French Gothic’ building in Brincliffe Crescent in the Nether Edge Conservation Area, next spring.
They can press ahead with their ambitions for a luxury weight-loss retreat now that the council has granted planning permission for the new use of the building, which has been used previously as a grammar school, laboratories and offices.
Clients will stay for a minimum of a week in one of the seven bedrooms and given a weight-loss programme that can include diet plans, counselling, hypnotherapy and fitness training, including walking, jogging and mountain biking in the Peak District.
“We are looking to take NHS referrals,” said Mark. “We have already had a great number of inquiries.”
