NEVER mind the nation – Cheryl Cole was South Yorkshire’s sweetheart when she performed for screaming concert-goers in Sheffield.
The Geordie pop princess set the Arena alight as she punched, kicked, marched and danced through a dazzling high-energy gig.
Fresh from lending a helping hand to Gary Barlow on the X Factor, she flew from the stage into the arms of her dancers, soared above the crowd on a hydraulic platform, and touched hands with her adoring ‘soldiers’ – her fans – as she ran through the arena flanked by bodyguards.
Four costume changes saw her glitter in gold, tease in tight leather, romance her fans in flowing purple silk, and gyrate in gym gear – which showed off the flattest of stomachs and some extremely toned abs.
“I’m so pleased to be up north,” she called out over the screams. “I love me some northerners.”
Songs for Cheryl’s first arena tour as a stand-alone singer included a duet of 3 Words with an on-screen projection of will.i.am, an encore of Fight For This Love, and a medley of hits from the band where she started, Girls Aloud.
