A NEW community hall in the village of Dungworth is about to get greener.
Nearly £16,000 in grants have been awarded for a wind turbine, to add to features including sheep’s wool insulation, rainwater harvesting and recycled stone and local timber. In the future, the aim is to have solar panels.
The Peak District National Park’s Sustainable Development Fund has approved an £11,000 grant to complement £4,800 from the council’s Northern Community Assembly for the wind turbine, which will be in the grounds of Bradfield Dungworth Primary School.
Head Stuart Barton said: “As a school we have a responsibility to educate our children in ways to reduce energy use and move towards less harmful renewable sources of energy.”
