Anne Gilbert, the country’s oldest guiding stalwart, has celebrated her 100th birthday. The great-grandmother, who lives independently in Longley, was a Brownie at eight and a Brown Owl until 65, although she carried on helping for another 20 years. She is now a member of the Sheffield City Trefoil Guild.
