THERE were cakes and balloons when members of a Sheffield health trust came together to celebrate five years since landing a prestigious national status.
The tea party was organised to mark Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust being awarded ‘foundation trust’ status.
The status gives the trust financial independence from the Government and boosts participation by the local community through a Council of Governors and an underlying foundation of thousands of members who get a say in the trust’s future.
The party at the Firth Park Sure Start Centre welcomed 50 members and their children.
Isabel Hemmings, chief operating officer, said: “It’s been a wonderful five years. Being an FT has given us the confidence to move forward with services with the backing of our Governors and members knowing their voices are heard.”
