Bladder cancer survivor Chris Hicks, 26, of Waterthorpe, who will be performing as Michael Jackson at Millhouses Park on Saturday at a music festival for Macmillan.

Chris Hicks refuses to let cancer get the better of him - taking to the stage as a Michael Jackson tribute act.

The 26-year-old, of Waterthorpe, was diagnosed with bladder cancer in March last year, a condition that is unusual for somebody of his age.

While he is currently clear of the disease after having a tumour removed, he has been told the cancer is likely to return.

“I want to send out the message that even during the worst possible times while having cancer, if you remain strong and stay positive then anything is possible,” said Chris, who is a carer for his grandmother.

He has been performing his Michael Jackson-inspired dance moves at local pubs and clubs for about five years, and was at the Macmillan Extravaganza in Millhouses Park last Saturday. He was supported during his illness by Macmillan Cancer Support
