A family and their pet dog are taking part in a sponsored walk to raise funds for the South Yorkshire hospice which looked after their little girl.

Sarah Poole, her husband Matt and their six-month-old daughter Ember are walking with their dog Poppy in memory of the couple’s eldest daughter Rowan who died in 2012.

Little Rowan was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular atrophy when she was just ten months old and spent a lot of time at Bluebell Wood Hospice in North Anston in the last few weeks of her life.

She took part in the hospice’s Bark around the Park event before she died and her family have taken part ever since.

Sarah, from Denby Dale, near Huddersfield, said: “Rowan loved to be outdoors looking at the trees and sky so this is a perfect way to remember her and also raise money for a fantastic cause close to our hearts.”

The three-and-a-half mile dog walk takes place on Sunday, September 7, at Bluebell Wood.

Pet owners are encouraged to help their four-legged friend raise as much money as possible through sponsorship.
