a SHEFFIELD healthcare company has scooped a prestigious design award for an innovative and user-friendly mini-catheter which helps help women manage bladder problems.

B Braun Medical Ltd, based in Thorncliffe Park, was named winner of the ACA /Promocon ‘Look Good Feel Good Award’ 2011 for its Actreen Lite Mini product.

The device assists women who have difficulty with bladder control due to conditions such as multiple sclerosis or spinal injuries by helping to empty their bladder when they go to the toilet.

The user-friendly product is small enough to fit into a pocket or handbag and has been receiving positive feedback from patients.

Sarah Mannion, product manager for the range at the firm, said: “From the feedback we’ve received from customers we know this a highly effective product that is well designed and also very discreet.

“The product is much smaller than a traditional catheter and fits in a handbag or pocket, so it’s easy to carry around.

“An additional feature is that the product contains our unique glycerine lubrication which means Actreen Lite Mini is ready to use when you open the packet. With no water, no mess and no hassle it’s easy to use and women tell us they like it as they can get on with their normal life.”
