BARNSLEY Hospital football team is celebrating winning the NHS Charity Football Tournament for the second year in a row.
Ryan Colwell, a biomedical scientist at Barnsley Hospital, organised for the team – made up of workers from the hospital – to take part in the annual five-a-side tournament. More than £800 was raised for the Bone Cancer Research Trust.
Meanwhile, the hospital’s Governing Council is now officially known as the Council of Governors.
The change is being brought in as part of the Health and Social Care Act.
Previously, different foundation trusts had different names for their governing bodies, including Board of Governors, Membership Council and Governing Council. The terminology is now standardised across all trusts.
