AWARD-WINNING ice-cream company Yummy Yorkshire is donating 20p from every chocolate cone sold during April to the Sick Children’s Trust’s Branching Out Appeal, which is financing extra accommodation for families of patients at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Company director Louise Holmes, who lives in Huddersfield, said: “We are very much a family friendly business and after hearing about the work that the Sick Children’s Trust does, the relationship just seemed very natural. We are parents and have had our brushes with hospitals, but to hear the stories of the families helped by the charity was very moving.”

The ice-cream is on sale at its farm shop near Denby Dale.

The £980,000 appeal is for an 11 bedroom unit off Northumberland Road where parents can stay free of charge while their child is being treated at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. It is hoped it will be open by the summer.
