Sheffield residents are being urged to thank nurses who go above and beyond the call of duty, by nominating them for an award.
The Patient’s Choice Award is given by the Nursing Standard journal as part of a scheme highlighting the care devoted nurses provide to patients.
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – which runs the Northern General, Jessop wing, Royal Hallamshire and Weston Park hospitals – is appealing for members of the public to come forward and vote for a nurse, midwife, healthcare assistant or student nurse who has made a difference to their lives.
Chris Morley, the trust’s deputy chief nurse, said: “Every day we hear fantastic stories about how our nurses and care workers have helped transform the lives of patients and loved ones through their hard work and dedication.
“In many instances patients or their families want to thank individuals for the care and compassion which they have been shown. These awards are just one way of expressing that thanks.”
