A FORMER team vicar on the Arbourthorne estate in Sheffield is to become a bishop, it was announced this week.
The Queen has appointed the Venerable John Wraw, currently Archdeacon of Wiltshire, to be the Bishop of Bradwell in the Diocese of Chelmsford.
Mr Wraw, 52, expects to leave the Diocese of Salisbury at Christmas and to take up his new post early in 2012.
It was working on the south side of Sheffield that he began his involvement in community development and social justice.
He moved to Rotherham in 1992 to become vicar of Clifton, before becoming Priest-in-Charge of Wickersley. He was made an Honorary Canon of Sheffield Cathedral in 2001.
