Positivate Sheffield hospital atmosphere created by artwork

An artist is displaying his latest exhibition at Sheffield Children’s Hospital to create a vibrant and positive atmosphere for visiting patients and their families.

Jonathan Wilkinson’s NORTH exhibition depicts a mixture of nostalgic northern landscapes and landmarks.

The exhibition, organised in collaboration with Artfelt, the charity’s art programme designed to make hospital feel better, is on display in The Long Gallery until October 5.

Father-of-one Jonathan, a Sheffield Hallam university graduate, said: “As a dad to a toddler, I have paid a few visits to The Children’s Hospital. I am really proud to exhibit my work here – it’s a great place to show art, as it gives lots of different families the opportunity to access art they might not usually see.

“My work is well-suited to The Children’s Hospital, as I explore everyday scenes with a child-like sense of wonder. I hope that my graphical approach and a bold use of colour raises a smile among the hospital’s young patients, their families and staff.”

Framed prints are available to buy with profits going to the Artfelt project.

Artfelt manager Cat Powell said response to the work had been ‘overwhelmingly positive’.
