Pub landlord sheds the pounds

editorial image

PUB landlord David Handisides is aiming to lose a quarter of his body weight to raise money for St Luke’s Hospice.

David, who runs Dronfield’s Hyde Park Inn with wife Lynn, hit more than 20st. Already he has lost 12lb by joining Weightwatchers and exercising.

“Because we are a pub and we do serve food it can be hard,” he said. “It’s a bit like giving a kid a lollipop and then telling them not to lick it!”

He added: “It was a case of doing it for myself and my family, but then I decided to get some sponsorship too as my father in law, Leslie Dickinson, was a patient at St Luke’s and so we know what a fantastic job they are doing.”
