Staff and volunteers at Yorkshire’s air ambulance are on a high thanks to a Sheffield firm agreeing to sponsor the charity for the next five years.
Healthcare giant B. Braun Medical Ltd, based in Chapeltown, has agreed to continue sponsoring the air ambulance until 2020 after more than a decade of support to the charity already.
The firm, which manufactures and distributes healthcare products around the world, will provide financial and practical support including sponsorship of the state-of-the-art helmets which protect air crew members’ heads, shield their eyes from the sun and protect their ears during flight.
It will also organise fundraising events, host the annual Yorkshire Air Ambulance awards dinner and offer general business advice and support.
The helicopter landed at B. Braun’s business premises to thank the firm for its support once the sponsorship deal was agreed.
B. Braun Medical Ltd’s Chief Executive, Hans Hux, met the air ambulance’s fundraising director Paul Gowland to discuss the partnership.
Brian Chapman, from B. Braun, said: “B. Braun is very proud of its links with such a vital, life-saving service which performs such a superb role for the people of this region.
“We are delighted to announce our continued support to this important organisation for another five years and it was fantastic to see the Yorkshire Air Ambulance helicopter land at our HQ which created a real buzz amongst our staff.
“The charity relies solely on the generosity of individuals and sponsors to operate the rapid response helicopter service across Yorkshire, and I urge other individuals and companies to get involved in this essential service.”
