A super slimmer is starting the new year as a shadow of his former self having shed half his body weight.
David Nightingale, from Totley Brook, Sheffield, described himself as a ‘time bomb’ waiting to happen, and weighed in at 28st and 2lbs at his heaviest.
Determined to be a different person at 40 to the one he was at 39, David decided it was time to beat the bulge and signed up to the Dore Old School Slimming World group for guidance.
Sixteen months on and dedicated dieter David has lost an incredible 14st and is looking forward to a healthier and happier year ahead.
“It sounds dramatic but I’ve probably extended my life by 20 years,” said David. “Before I was struggling to walk and sleep. My waist is now smaller than when I left school.
“Joining Slimming World was definitely the best step I’ve taken in my life and I’m proof that it works, if you stick at it and believe in it.”
Inspirational David lost more than a stone in the first three weeks of attending the weight loss group and continued with phenomenal success week in, week out.
He puts his achievements down to Slimming World’s easy eating plan and fabulous support from fellow members along with group consultant Alison Murphy.
“Everyone is in it together and I’m so grateful to my mum’s friend Pat for introducing me to the group and to Alison - she deserves credit,” said David.
After smashing his weight loss goal, David has set himself a new challenge for 2015.
“I’m still single and that’s something I’d like to address,” said David. “I’ve grown in confidence and a new year means a new start.
“I’m no longer scared of failure, it’s good to challenge yourself,” he added.
