Fundraisers heading for Meadowhall to take part in Sheffield’s Race For Life next month can get a head start with three extra early morning trams.
The special services are being laid on by Stagecoach Supertram on Sunday, June 9, the day of the event.
Trams will start from Halfway at 7.18am - 30 minutes earlier than normal - with a later service leaving at 7.30am from Middlewood.
Both trams are timed to arrive more than an hour before the 9.30am start time.
Margaret Kay, Supertram’s managing director, said extra services were being offered following a similar scheme organised for the Sheffield Half Marathon.
“We operated early morning services for the half marathon and this was a great success, so we’ve decided to extend the service for the 5K too,” she said.
“This is a very worthwhile cause so we felt it was important to provide support in this way.
“We wish all racers the best of luck.”
Jenny Murgatroyd, who is managing the race in Sheffield for Cancer Research UK, said she was ‘delighted’ runners could catch trams earlier.
