KIDNEY disease patient Wendy Wilkinson, aged 49, is cycling this week from London to Sheffield to raise money the local branch of the RSPCA - in time to attend the organisation’s annual dinner at Baldwin’s Omega tomorrow (Friday).

“I am making the journey alone, and I suffer from high blood pressure and kidney disease - but the charity really needs the extra funds,” said Wendy, who used to live in City Road and now lives in London. “I have always supported them since I first volunteered at the age of 17 at its old Spring Street site.”

Having previously cycled on her own across parts of America, she expects the journey will take four days.
