SOMETIMES you can’t help but smile - even if your team is losing.
It’s enough to cheer even the most miserable day when you meet two of pop music’s biggest stars.
But that isn’t the real reason that Kevin Byford looks so delighted.
It was how and why that meeting came about that cheered Kevin.
The Essex based Wednesdayite was introduced to Sheffield music legends Richard Hawley and Jarvis Cocker at half time during the top of the table clash with Charlton Athletic which Wednesday lost 1-0 on Saturday.
He was one of seven members of The Owls Foundation whose names were put into a hat to give them a chance of winning a slice of £25,400.
Jarvis did the honours and Kevin scooped the top prize - £12,800.
And like the result on the pitch the winners of all the top three prizes came from outside the city. Second place and £6,400 went to J Spendlove from Barnsley and third place worth £3200 went to T Munden, also from Barnsley.
