STAFF at Sheffield Children’s Hospital have become the faces of this year’s NHS ‘flu fighter’ campaign to urge colleagues across the country to take up their free vaccination.

Doctors, nurses, pharmacists and physiotherapists at the Sheffield hospital are appearing on posters urging all frontline NHS workers to get the jab to help protect themselves and patients and families from the influenza virus.

They include lead leukaemia sister Tracy Twyman.

Last year, the campaign encouraged an additional 100,000 NHS staff in England, up to 45% of the frontline workforce, to be vaccinated against influenza, which caused 602 deaths in England in 2010/11.
