WHEN its Christmas concert at Sheffield Cathedral was postponed because of bad weather, Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity began to look for another date.

And that’s how a ‘Valentine’s concert’ was performed last Sunday afternoon featuring performances by Stannington Brass Band, Bolsterstone Male Voice Choir and John Reilly, the singer with Sheffield bands Boy on a Dolphin and Acoustic Angels.

Charity director Rachel Thorpe said: “It was lovely that so many people enjoyed such a fabulous afternoon out and we are so grateful to everyone involved,

the concert organisers, the musicians and of course the audience.

“We were devastated when the planned Christmas concert was cancelled because of the snow. We rely heavily on events like this to help us fund cancer research and improve cancer treatments and care and it is great that our supporters refused to let the dreadful British weather interfere.”
