Houseproud city residents

Sheffield has been named one of the UK’s most houseproud cities.

According to a study of domestic standards, 71 per cent of the city’s residents remove their shoes in their own home, and more than half would ask guests to do so too.

But the survey, conducted by doormat company Turtle Mat, found men are inclined to keep their shoes on indoors more than women.

Sheffield’s domestic standards were outshone by their neighbours in Leeds, however, who came top of the table.
