A DOG appears to be none the worse after falling down the side of a disused quarry.
But it needed the efforts of firefighters to rescue two-year-old Border Terrier Hugo as darkness fell.
Hugo had been taken for a walk by his owner along Lord’s Head Lane, Warmsworth, Doncaster, at around 9.30pm on Wednesday but was off the lead exploring when he managed to squeeze through railings which fence off the old quarry site. To the horror of the woman walking him, Hugo then plunged about 15ft down the quarry face and landed in some bushes.
Although he was not injured it was obvious he could not scale the rock face and Edlington fire crews were called for help. They used a ladder to get to a ledge from which they could pluck Hugo to safety.
