AT least 500 people or more are expected to attend the funeral of murdered Sheffield organist Alan Greaves on Wednesday, February 6.
The service, at noon at St Saviour’s Church, Mortomley Lane, High Green, is being planned as an open event rather than a private family ceremony.
Vicar Canon Simon Bessant said Mr Greaves’ widow, Maureen, did not want people to feel they should not come, even if they might not have known him directly, or for people to feel there might be ‘too many’ people coming. “She wants people to come if they can, and I think she would really value seeing people there.”
Talks are being held about road closures.
