NICOLA Reader is well used to jokes about her unusual leap year birthday.
The grandma, who reaches the age of 40 - but officially just 10 - today has spent a lifetime celebrating before or after February 29.
She said: “People always joke and say to me, ‘You have five kids and you’re a grandma but you’re still only ten years old!’.
“When I was a kid I used to say, ‘When’s my birthday?’ because there was no February 29 in the calendar.
“I usually always go out and celebrate on the day before or after.
“I’ve got used to it.”
Nicola, from Gleadless, has featured in The Star several times previously due to her special birth date.
And history almost repeated itself, as grandson Roman was born on March 1 although not on a leap year. He is two tomorrow.
Nicola, who is jetting off to Portugal to celebrate added: “I think I would have quite liked it if I had a child or grandchild born on February 29 too.
“It would have made it even more special.”
