THIS was the dramatic moment when an emergency crew airlifted a man to Sheffied’s Northern General Hospital after he fractured his hip out walking above Castleton.

The 74-year-old, from Bury, Lancashire, was on Cow Low when he slipped and fell six metres down a gully.

Members of Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue Team were alerted to his plight at 3pm on Thursday and found him stranded on a steep slope.

His daughter was looking after him until emergency help arrived.

He was given first aid at the scene before being airlifted by the RAF to the Northern General.
