Irish night will raise vital funds for city hospice

A MUSICIAN is holding a fundraising Irish Ceilidh tonight to thanks St Luke’s Hospice for caring for his daughter.

Sheffield-based band Shamrock will perform at the event at St Vincent’s Catholic Club on Solly Street, Sheffield.

John Dowling, aged 83, who plays the concertina harmonica and whistle in the band, said: “I lost my daughter some years ago and they looked after her very well. They have done a lot for the Irish community.”

He added: “People can expect an Irish night with traditional music, and a bit of pop from the 50s and 60s.”

Shamrock will be joined by special guest star and Sheffield singer-songwriter Mimi O’Malley.
