A SHOW organised by Sheffield Boxing Centre helped raise £20,000 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in North Anston.

The night - which included matches by local boxers, an auction of sporting memorabilia and an appearance by former world light-heavyweight boxing John Conteh - raised half the cash.

Rotherham-based metals processing specialist Meadowbank Group promoted the event and donated the extra £10,000.

Glyn Rhodes, centre owner, said: “This is the most we’ve ever raised in one show.”

The show took place at Sheffield Wednesday’s stadium in March and more are planned.

Bluebell Wood cares for children and young adults from across the region, including caring for a poorly child in their own home and support and respite services for parents.
