They had to wait seven months, but there was no disappointing fans of Jessie J as she eventually made it to the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield.

A tour lined up for last March had sold out quickly, but was then postponed “due to extended recording commitments”.

Fans raised the roof of the Attercliffe venue at Saturday’s rescheduled concert as the singer started with Big White Room and performed songs such as Price Tag, Domino, Heartbeat, It’s My Party, Nobody’s Perfect, Sexy Lady and Do It Like A Dude in a 90-minute set.

A commanding voice and songs from her second studio album, Alive, combined with costume changes and video footage underlined the status of the 25-year-old London-born Jessica Ellen Cornish, whose place in the pop music firmament was cemented as a coach on the BBC TV series, The Voice.
