Judge to visit cathedral camp
Occupy Sheffield protestors outside Sheffield Crown Court
A COUNTY court judge is to see the Occupy Sheffield camp outside the cathedral for himself before starting a two-day case into whether the protesters should have to leave.
Mr Justice Foskett will visit the cathedral forecourt before February 21.
Cathedral authorities are seeking a possession order on the basis of a contrevantion of the right to freedom of religion and the congregation’s right to freedom of assembly.
They are urging the protesters to leave before the court case, “saving everyone concerned more time and money”.
Campaigners’ legal representatives are pressing the case for the freedoms of expression and assembly.
