Residents joined councillors and MPs to tackle litter in a Sheffield village and clean the area up for the summer.
People joined Coun Ian Saunders who organised the event in his Beighton ward.
Clive Betts, Sheffield South East MP, and Couns Helen Mirfin-Boukouris and Chris Rosling-Josephs, fellow Sheffield Council Beighton ward members, also pitched in alongside members of the Beighton Environmental Group and staff from McDonald’s Restaurant at nearby Crystal Peaks shopping centre.
Litter pickers, including three-year-old Isobel Sykes, met at The Fox pub before undertaking the big clean – with volunteers offered a free lunch at McDonald’s afterwards.
Graham Sykes, BEG secretary, said: “There were people of all ages there, which was really nice to see.
“We have been doing this for about 12 years and in the past we have got the top urban community from Britain in Bloom, which is a national award. Litter is an ongoing issue for us – it can get very bad.”
