Kids splashed around to their hearts’ content at the official opening of the revamped paddling pools at Rivelin Valley Park.

The water play area has been fitted with a new filter system, a Splash Pad with brightly-coloured areas of water jets, sprays and interactive water play features.

Access has also been created for disabled youngsters and special ‘aqua wheelchairs’ are available to loan.

The new play area was unveiled by council cabinet members Isobel Bowler and Jackie Drayton, along with representatives from the Sheffield Parent Carers Forum.

“I am sure that this wonderful new play area will be really popular,” said Coun Bowler.

“We are grateful to everyone who took part in the consultation events and helped to ensure the new facilities cater for a wide range of ages and physical abilities.”
