LIBYANS in Sheffield have been demonstrating throughout the week in support of pro-democracy campaigners in their home country.

Many of them students, they have given a show of solidarity, holding up placards and photographs and chanting slogans of freedom and peace outside the town hall.

Belgsim Al Abidi, aged 37, who is studying for a Phd in geography at Sheffield University, said: “The British Government needs to know what is happening and get Gaddafi to stop killing his people.”
