Airfield used for driving lessons

The disused Norton Airfield is being used to teach road safety to youngsters.

The site, a former World War Two RAF barrage balloon station off Norton Avenue, has been reopened by Safety 1st Driving Academy.

Part of the initiative will involve working in partnership with secondary schools to teach road safety to pupils aged 15 and 16.

The project will begin with a computer-based course delivered to students in the classroom.

For teenagers that succeed in the initial assessment, a trip to the airfield is on the cards.
