POLICE and stewards are reported to have had to to step in to restore order after players from both sides swopped blows in the tunnel at the end of the Championship derby between Leeds United and Doncaster Rovers at Elland Road.

Tempers had started to become frayed in the last few minutes of the game won 3-2 by Leeds, who had trailed 2-0 at one stage.

But there was no indication that the situation would explode in the way that it is believed it did.

The disturbance is believed to have lasted some time and extra police were seen rushing into the tunnel at least 30 seconds after four or five officers had gone in earlier.

Police are reported to have spoken to both teams in their respective dressing rooms.

Manager Dean Saunders left the ground around 6pm and didn’t speak to the media on the advice of the club’s media manager Steve Uttley.

Uttley, who denied that there had been any incident, also instructed the players not to speak to the media, many of whom had been waiting for 90 minutes.

So... evey part of the ground is covered by CCTV you can't pick your nose in a football ground these days without being filmed YET amazingly no cameras in the tunnel ... Convenient that, having said that can't see what the problem is after all it happens at the ice hockey all the time and nobody gives two hoots about that ....
