Business owners gave electric vehicles a test drive as part of a bid to reduce harmful emissions in Sheffield.
They gave the cars a whirl at Bramall Lane, Highfield, as part of a county-wide project led by Sheffield Council. Grants towards leasing a plug-in van or car are available. Coun Jack Scott, council cabinet member for environment, said the cars could travel 100 miles for £2, with charging points now being installed across the county.
Coun Scott said: “I think this is the future.”
