Payback: Matthew Moss must repay his ill-gotten gains under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

A MAN jailed for nearly a decade for producing crack cocaine and spending the proceeds on expensive cars and furnishings has been ordered to pay back £150,000.

Matthew Moss has six months to repay the cash or face an additional 30 months in prison – on top of the nine years and seven months he was jailed for in May.

Moss, aged 34, of New Street, North Wingfield, Chesterfield, was originally jailed after admitting producing crack cocaine concealing criminal property.

He was stopped by police in Birkin Lane, Wingerworth, in February 2011. The car he was driving was searched and crack cocaine was found.

During the investigation, it was discovered that, between 2007 and 2011, Moss had bought expensive cars and spent thousands of pounds renovating properties.

At this week’s Proceeds of Crime Act hearing, Moss, pictured above, was also served with a financial reporting order, which means he has to report his finances to the police for the next 10 years or face a further 51 weeks in prison for each time he fails to do so.

Detective Superintendent Terry Branson said: “This was a complex investigation but the jail term and confiscation order are brilliant results.”
