Kind-hearted residents in Sheffield have donated more than £90,400 to an appeal launched to get aid to people whose lives have been shattered in Gaza.
Thousands of people have fled their homes in the Gaza Strip because of the current conflict with neighbouring Israel and are in need of food, clean water, shelter and medical treatment.
The Disasters Emergency Committee launched its appeal five days ago – and more than £8 million has been pledged from the UK already.
Saleh Saeed, DEC chief executive, praised the ‘incredible generosity’ of Sheffield residents.
He said: “Aid is getting through, with our staff and partners on the ground working tirelessly to provide assistance to the people in Gaza in desperate need.”
