Community choir seeking singers

NEWS: News.

NEWS: News.

A community choir forced to close after 40 years is back up and running again in Sheffield and seeking new members.

The Bents Green Singers closed in June 2013 after its musical director retired but was reformed and now has 15 members.

Margaret Bowes from the group said: “We got together and re-vamped the choir.

“I felt passionately about it and letting a choir like that which has been going for 40 years just go to the wall didn’t seem right.

“We advertised for a new musical director and we were inundated.”

The group meets every other Tuesday at Bents Green Methodist Hall in Bents Green from 2.15pm until 4pm.

New members are welcome.

Margaret said: “We welcome anyone who is new to singing and would like to have a go at singing in a choir, but we are also looking for experienced singers too.”

To find out more about the group ring Margaret on 0114 2839720.
