There was double cause for celebration for Sheffield Environment Weeks.
What is now recognised as one of the biggest local environment events in the world reached its 25th birthday this year and its impact on the city was recognised with two awards.
Having just collected the Lifetime Achievement Award, there was a swift return to the stage for Pat Barsby and Saskia Peet to collect the Overall Award from Keith Sexton, Environmental Director for main sponsors Amey.
Hosted once again by BBC Look North weatherman and climate correspondent Paul Hudson, the event in the grand setting of Whirlowbrook Hall, recognised some of the many individuals, businesses and organisations who are doing their best to protect and preserve the world we live in.
Other winners on the night included the Rivelin Valley Conservation Group in the Community category and pioneering energy company ITM Power in the Innovation section.
Brunswick Primary School took the honours in a close battle with Wisewood Primary in the Primary School category, while the judges were unable to choose between Westfield Sports College and Sheffield High School in the Senior School section and declared them joint winners.
Bag It don't Bin It, who had been been finalists for the last two years, went one step better with victory in the Business category while Danny Piermattei was a deserving individual winner for his outstanding work with the Action For Stannington organistation.
St Vincent's Furniture Store, which has recycled more than 400,000 unwanted items to the homeless since it was formed in 1987, won the Recycling award and Sheffield architects AC Liani Ltd were named Design and Build winners for thier work on the Hollowford Centre and lagoon in the Peak District.
Telegraph editor David Todd said: "This event gets better every year and the stories which come to light when the nominations come in make you realise just how committed so many Sheffield people are to doing their bit.
"It's a great privilege for the Telegraph to be involved in something which can recognise just a small fraction of the unsung work which is going on out there."
