STRANGERS stepped forward to help a Sheffield boy who found his birthday gifts had been stolen as he returned home from a party at a play centre.
After six-year-old Sam Mellor’ family home in Sicey Avenue, Shiregreen, was ransacked and burgled, his dad, Gary, told of Sam’s plight on Facebook, listing his son’s missing games and appealing for anyone who might be offered them for sale to contact him.
“People have been so kind,” said Gary. “Friends of friends of friends who don’t even know us have been getting in touch to offer replacement games. It restores your faith in human nature.”
Two laptops were also stolen, along with cash, money and jewellery, totalling around £700 worth of property.
