Friendly Sheffield fido seeks family

Ajax may be named after a Greek warrior who fought alongside Achilles in the Trojan war, but he has the personality of a true peacemaker.

The five-year-old, black and white crossbreed, who is thought to be a mix of collie and cocker spaniel, has been a resident at the RSPCA in Sheffield since he was brought to the shelter by an inspector due to welfare concerns.

Having been treated with love and care by the staff, the friendly pooch is now looking for a peaceful forever home and family to love.

RSPCA Sheffield Branch animal care manager Tony Benham said: “Ajax loves the company of people and seems to like other dogs as well.

“He can be a little shy when he first meets new people but he has gained much confidence during his time here at the centre and is starting to show his true, wonderful nature.

“Because of his slightly shy personality we would prefer a home, if they have children, to be over the age of eight. Age ranges are a guide though and we look at each case individually.

“All our animals are assessed during their stay with us and our key priority is to match the right animal with the right owner. When Ajax was brought to us he had sore skin and a problem with his eyes.

“Our wonderful vets have now treated him and he is much improved, but he will need lifelong eye cream to keep him in the best of health, which can be bought from us at a subsidised rate.

“Ajax will also require two to three walks of around 30 minutes per day when possible.”

For more information or to meet Ajax, call the RSPCA Sheffield on 0114 289 8050.
