These are heady times at Sheffield FC.

German giants Borussia Dortmund (BVB) side are coming to Sheffield, for the Derby festival, on Sunday.

BVB legend and Youth Academy Director Lars Ricken – who scored the eliminator in the 1997 Champions League Final between BVB and crack Italian side Juventus – will lead a team of fans and legends at Dronfield’s Coach and Horses ground against Sheffield’s Pioneers Cup winning side, (1pm) just before the kick-off to the World’s First Derby re-run between Hallam FC and Sheffield FC (3.30pm).

The Sheffield select side to face the German visitors is managed by ex-First Team manager and current SFC Foundation Director Chris Dolby.

“It signals the next step in the friendship between these two great clubs, with Borussia Dortmund - the German football ambassadors for “real love” and true passion for the game – and the World’s First Football Club, Sheffield FC” says the local club’s website.

The match forms part two of a three part festival over the weekend, with ASK-PSV Hattrick Salzburg playing Mick Wadsworth’s First Team squad tomorrow.

“ASK-PSV play in the fourth tier of their national league structure, so should offer an interesting test in anticipation of the Evo-Stik Division One season” says the Club.

Sunday’s game against local rivals Hallam is a re-staging of history’s first inter-club game of football, first played at Hallam’s Sandygate ground on Boxing Day 1860, and the next episode in a contest which still stirs emotion in local amateur sports.

On top of that, Dronfield’s slimmed down version of Glastonbury – DronFest – will form a finale to Derby Weekend, taking place this year on the top field above the main stadium.
