Hospital thief is jailed

A THIEF who stole from Weston Park and Rotherham hospitals has been jailed for two years and nine months.

Dean Walker, aged 34, of Sycamore Avenue, Wickersley, stole a cash box containing £30 from a canteen vending machine at Weston Park and a handbag and purse from a staff room at Rotherham District General.

He was found guilty of theft and burglary at Sheffield Crown Court, where he was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £120 and was given a five-year ASBO banning him from hospitals except for medical emergencies or appointments.

Police said he had abused the trusting environment of NHS hospitals.
