Former Sheffield chief executive Sir Bob Kerslake has kept his sense of humour – if not his job – after being axed as head of the civil service by David Cameron.
The 59-year-old, who still has a home in Sheffield and is a regular shopper in Sharrow Vale, used some of his new-found free time to have an operation on a slipped disc.
And while he was recovering in hospital in London, Sir Bob tweeted: “Many thanks for kind wishes following back operation. Incision measured 16cm. A pretty big knife in the back! Photos on request. Eventful two weeks!”
